In early June our Raukūmara Pae Maunga Operations Monitoring roōpū were heard whooping and jumping for JOY after spotting our FIRST kiwi on kiwi-cam!
We were so happy to see our precious little taonga, and this is proof that our little Eastern Brown Kiwi is still holding on, deep in the interior of our Raukūmara ngahere.
This kiwi siting was after a 1080 drop and we hold out hope that there may be around ten kiwi left in the rohe, although for an area this size we should be seeing closer to 12,000.
We'll post up more information as we find it, while continuing to monitor, discover, and bring you - our whānau - along on this amazing journey with us. Follow us on social media to get the latest!
